A native of Plymouth, Michigan, Mary currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana. Recent role debuts include La Contessa in Indiana University Opera Theatre's production of Le Nozze di Figaro, directed by Michael Shell and conducted by Maestro Antony Walker, and Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann with Arbor Opera Theater, directed by Danny Brylow. Mary has also performed the title role in South Bend Lyric Opera's production of Lucia di Lammermoor, and Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte with the same company.
Mary has frequently performed with Detroit-based company Opera MODO, where she recently appeared as a coloratura-flinging diva in their Diva Cage Match fundraiser. Roles with MODO include Nannetta (Falstaff), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Zerlina (Don Giovanni).
Ms. Martin is an alumna of Central City Opera Bonfils-Stanton Young Artist Program. She has also sung as a soloist with regional orchestras, including Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Midland Symphony Orchestra, and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra.
She is also a teaching artist of Michigan Opera Theatre, where she directed their 2019 Operetta Workshop program and appears as a community outreach performer.
More recent highlights include performances with Opera MODO as Norina in Don Pasquale, and with South Bend Lyric Opera as Bea in Three Decembers and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni.
