Set in Seville, Bizet’s Carmen follows Carmen, a fiercely independent cigarette factory worker whose free spirit captivates soldier Don José. After helping her escape arrest, José becomes consumed by his love for her and ultimately abandons his duty to join her and a band of smugglers. But Carmen’s attention soon turns to the charismatic bullfighter Escamillo, leaving José increasingly desperate and jealous. As Carmen embraces her freedom and refuses to return to José, their passionate relationship hurtles toward a tragic and unforgettable end.
