Bio

Ben Ganger

Tanner Hoertz is an operatic baritone and music teacher living in the Lexington, KY area. Hoertz is classically trained and received his training at the University of Michigan (M.Mus., 2018) and the University of Kentucky (B.Mus., 2016). Hoertz studied with Stephen Lusmann and Dr. Angelique Clay, respectively. Hoertz regularly participates in young artist aria and song competitions. Additionally, Hoertz has been a studio artist at Sewanee WinterFest, Savannah Voice Festival, Bay View Music Festival, and Prague Summer Nights. Past roles include Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Dr. Joseph Talbot in Bolcom’s Dinner at Eight, and other principal roles. Hoertz is expected to perform the role of Dottore Grenvil in La Traviata this Summer. For a full repertoire list, please see the Resumé & Repertoire page.

Hoertz has specialized interests in French art song, bel canto repertoire, musical theater, and spirituals.
