
Dr. Jeshua Franklin currently serves on the faculty at Indiana University South Bend as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, where he directs the choirs and leads the music education program. Before beginning his current appointment, Jeshua served as Director of Choral Activities and chair of the Music Department at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana and as Music Instructor and Performing Arts Coordinator at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois. He has also previously served on the faculties of Modesto Junior College and Southwestern Michigan College. Jeshua is sought after as an adjudicator and clinician, presenting, in recent years, on choral topics at state, regional, and national conferences of the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association. Recent choir tours under his leadership have led ensembles around the United States and Canada, to Carnegie Hall, and to Syros, Greece, where his choir performed by invitation at the Festival of the Aegean.
Jeshua is Artistic Director of Musical Arts Indiana, where he conducts Vesper Chorale, Vesper Chamber Orchestra, and the Children’s Choir of Michiana. He holds undergraduate degrees in music from Modesto Junior College and Bethel University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from Bowling Green State University and the University of Washington, respectively. Jeshua has also studied blending the Alexander Technique with choral music making, and he has significant Alexander Technique training from the Pacific Institute for the Alexander Technique and the University of Washington.
Dr. Franklin is a proud father to four amazing kids, and he is active in his local community in a variety of ways including volunteering at his church, working with the South Bend Civic Theatre, and serving on the board for the Indiana Choral Directors Association.
